Khalid's research focuses on helping organizations make their information security programs more effective by aligning them to their business objectives while managing the information risks effectively. He covers security strategy, including communication strategies, security organization, and the role of information security in corporate governance. He also covers security metrics, measurement, reporting, best practices, security awareness programs, and information security policy frameworks. Khalid has helped clients benchmark their existing capabilities and identify gaps in security programs by performing information security risk assessments. Khalid also helps organizations manage information risks by developing guidance on industry and government regulations, compliance, liability, and information protection concerns. His research focuses on undersanding the implications and forecasting trends in these areas.
Prior to joining Forrester, Khalid worked for a global insurance company as a senior security architect where he provided leadership and direction for the information security program by managing infrastructure security, developing a security awareness program, and implementing monitoring and compliance controls. Khalid has also had extensive experience consulting Fortune 500 companies to develop and implement effective informatin security programs and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Khalid is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Informatin Security Manager (CISM).
Khalid holds a master of science degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's degree in business and economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
