Belk Customizes Product Feeds for Multiple Online Shopping Engines

Belk has adopted new e-commerce technology from ChannelAdvisor that allows the retailer to create customized product data feeds for multiple shopping engines, giving the department store retailer greater online access to customers outside its physical stores' geographic footprint.

"The ChannelAdvisor platform gives us the ability to create custom feeds that meet the specifications of each shopping engine as well as other online marketing vendors in order to maximize our online exposure," said Belk senior vice president of e-commerce Ivy Chin in a statement. "Our goal is to expand into new markets where we do not have retail locations, and we're already seeing high volumes of orders from states outside of our brick-and-mortar grid."

Belk is using ChannelAdvisor's Comparison Shopping solution, which provides online retailers with the tools to submit high-quality data feeds to more than 100 shopping engines around the world including Shopzilla, Shopping.com, Nextag and PriceGrabber. The retailer is also using the Flex Feeds solution, which creates custom feeds for commerce partners such as affiliate networks, retargeting providers, personalization solutions and product review platforms. These feed transformations are accomplished from a single data feed delivered to the ChannelAdvisor system.
