Finish Line Reduces Web Page Loading Times by 50 Percent

Finish Line sells premium athletic footwear that helps people move quickly, so both the retailer and its customers appreciate the need for speed. The retailer has experienced an average reduction of 50% in web page loading times for its Finishline.com e-commerce site by leveraging the Dynamic Site Accelerator from Akamai Technologies.

In addition, the Accelerator has allowed Finish Line to offload some of the site's dynamic content to the Akamai globally distributed platform, freeing up company servers and reducing downtime.

"Our core consumer has an affinity for technology and spends a significant amount of time on the Internet," said Roger Underwood, Finish Line's senior vice president for e-commerce, technology and operations. "Not only do we need to continuously update our site to ensure that our product catalog is featuring the most current styles, but we also must ensure that our site is loading fast. Consumers expect Finishline.com to perform flawlessly and will quickly take their business elsewhere if it does not.

"By teaming up with Akamai, we're able to deliver the robust experience our customers demand, and our team is free to concentrate on strategic initiatives designed to grow our e-commerce business," added Underwood.
