Home Depot QR Code Campaign Streamlines Mobile Purchases
Home Depot has launched a new in-store service and ad campaign incorporating mobile barcodes. Using the ScanLife app from Scanbuy, Inc., shoppers can scan QR (Quick Response) codes using their smartphones, enabling them to purchase products from their mobile devices.
Additionally, Home Depot will receive information through ScanLife on the scans they receive, such as which products customers are interested in, the location of that interaction, representative demographics and more.
"We know our customers are already using their mobile device to assist in the purchasing process, and now Home Depot is embracing this technology to more closely connect our stores and customers to our digital content," says Tom Sweeny, senior director of online strategy for Homedepot.com.
Codes are featured in-store on shelves and signage as well as in advertisements such as print ads and direct mail pieces. Shoppers who scan codes outside the store will be able to make purchases online through their mobile device, converting any media into a virtual "buy button."
In-store shoppers will be able to access information such as product demo and How-To videos, relevant accessories, buying guides, project guides and an option to make an online purchase.
