Lovesac Boosts Engagement with Mobile POS

Lovesac, a manufacturer and retailer of patented foam-filled furniture, began 20 years ago with a bean bag project. The company’s entrepreneurial founder, Shawn Nelson, who conceived the idea for the world’s largest bean bag at age 18, has grown the company to 60 retail locations across the U.S. selling innovative bean bag-like Sacs and modular couches called Sactionals that can be configured into any arrangement.

As a company that has flourished by developing innovative products, it's no surprise the big next step for Lovesac is rolling out the mobile point of sale (POS) experience. Lovesac has selected NetSuite’s SuiteCommerce InStore, a solution that unifies the physical and digital shopping experiences and offers full POS capabilities.

“We have customers who are used to the Amazon and the Apple experience”, explained Kimberly Dietz, Lovesac Product Manager, Omnichannel. "In response to this modern consumer, Lovesac is working with NetSuite to create an experience where the customer will enter the store and be welcomed by sales associates who have SuiteCommerce InStore on an iPad, which offers a way to find all the former customers or create a new profile. Associates will be able to look up a customer's personal purchase history, find items for the customer and filter them based on attributes such as the item’s color family or season.”

Providing the associate the ability to easily look up an item on the ipad versus trying to remember a specific SKU or description is expected to create a more engaged experience for everyone, where the associate can flip through items with the customer and interactively make suggestions on color and style.

Having real-time data at their fingertips on customers, orders and inventory allows employees to provide a seamless, informed experience both pre- and post-sale.

"We have a complex enough business that we needed to find a comprehensive yet flexible solution like the one that NetSuite and SuiteCommerce InStore provide," said Dietz.
