Avenue Clothing Stores File for Bankruptcy

United Retail, owner of the Avenue plus-size women's clothing stores, has filed for Chapter 11 protection. The company was approved for a $25 million loan to keep its 433 stores operating as it tries to sell itself to the highest bidder.

Esprit Closing All 93 North American Stores

Apparel retailer Esprit Holdings will shut all 93 of its North American stores as the U.S. and Canadian divisions of the Hong Kong-based company consider filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
