Top 10 Happiest Retail Employers: Nordstrom, Macy's Lead the Grin List

Nordstrom, Macy's and OfficeMax topped the list of the 10 retailers with the happiest employees, with the upscale department store chain achieving the number-one ranking for the second year in a row.

The top 10 list comes from an annual survey by CareerBliss that is based on more than 10,000 employee reviews as well as factors such as work environment, job resources, compensation, growth opportunities and corporate culture.

"Nordstrom is one of the places on the planet that is consistently ranked on both customer service as well as employee happiness," said CareerBliss CEO Heidi Golledge in a statement. "We are seeing stores such as Dillard's and Sears showing a newfound focus on employee culture and happiness. Overall, it is nice to see retail happiness levels trending up, a potential sign of an improved economy."

Following are the Top 10 Happiest Retail Employers for 2012:

4) Best Buy
5) GameStop
6) Bath & Body Works
7) Office Depot
8) Dillard's
9) Kohl's
10) Sears
