The busiest Internet shopping day of the year takes place on Monday, November 30th which is when consumers flock to the Web for doorbuster deals offered exclusively online. This year, retailers are upping the ante and offering deeper discounts than year's past.
Consumers are readying themselves for the biggest online shopping day of the year by scoping out the best deals the Web has to offer and turning to Web sites such as www.cybermonday.com, www.cybermonday.net, www.bestcybermondaysales.com and www.dealtaker.com for insight into the latest and greatest deals being offered online.
What's all the hype about Cyber Monday 2009? Here's a look at why this Cyber Monday is different than year's past and some of the exclusive deals being offered by retailers such as JCPenney, Blue Nile, Walmart, Best Buy and Target.
Here are some 2009 trends of the busiest online shopping day of the year:
-More retailers are offering exclusive deals this Cyber Monday than in years past. According to the NRF, 87.1 percent of retailers will have a special promotion for Cyber Monday, up from 83.7 percent last year.
- Mobile Commerce is predicted to have a major impact on Cyber Monday sales due to the increasing popularity of the smart phone says Gomez. Mobile Commerce will likely influence consumer decisions since it gives users the ability to comparison shop, place orders and guarantees in-store pick-up.
- Exclusive online discounts are deeper than years past. Retailers such as overstock.com will offer as much as 50 percent off select merchandise.
-Retailers including Cabela's, Urban Outfitters, The North Face and Macy's are offering free shipping as an incentive for customer to buy online.
- CyberMonday.com launched on Facebook.com and Twitter.com and will offer text deal alerts. More than $250 in retail gift cards will be distributed each day to fans and followers through Christmas.
-A Deal of the Hour will be offer by cybermonday.com and will highlight a different retail promotion every 60 minutes. Offers will include free shipping specials, dollars off, percentages off, and free gifts with purchase.
Retailers that are offering deep discount online this Cyber Monday include:
JCPenney: The department store is offering free shipping and screenbusters which highlight high-quality gifts at sharp price points. The retailer also announced it will offer its Cyber Monday promotions a day earlier this year on Sunday, November 29. The two-day online sale will feature special offers exclusive to jcp.com on more than 30,000 items.
Blue Nile: The jewelry retailer will offer free overnight shipping on all orders placed on Monday, November 30 and premiere holiday exclusives at midnight including limited edition jewelry items that will be offered at a significant discount and only available for 24 hours or while supplies last.
Walmart: The big box retailer is offering free shipping for home, electronics and baby items as well as 80 percent off select clearance orders. The retailer also is offering major discounts on popular gift items including Guitar Hero, Nintendo and the Garmin GPS.
Best Buy: The electronics giant is offering free shipping, 15 percent off select TV orders, deep discounts on DVD players and GPS units as well as $4.99 DVDs. On big ticket items such as the Sony HDTV home theater system, the retailer is offering free delivery, home theater integration and recycling on the $1499 order.
Target: The retailer is offering free shipping on most $50 purchases, 75 percent off select clearance orders, and up to $20 off select toy purchases made online.
