Lowe's Mobile Rollout 60% Complete
More than 60% of Lowe's stores are now equipped with an average of 25 Apple iPhone-based mobile devices apiece, with chainwide rollout of all 42,000 devices expected by early 2012, and the customer experience impact is already being felt. The home improvement retailer has identified opportunities to repurpose "several hundred thousand labor hours from support tasks to directly serving customers," according to Lowe's EVP of store operations Rick Damron. Another reason for the rapid results: the intuitive, user-friendly apps allowed Lowe's to distribute the devices without training manuals, a first for the company.
